Robert W. Rebar, MD, Executive Director of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) will be the recipient of the RESOLVE: The National Infertility Association’s Barbara Eck Founder’s Award. Dr. Rebar will accept the award at RESOLVE’s Night of Hope Gala on November 6, 2013, at the Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers in New York City, hosted by actress and activist Elisabeth Rohm. As the organization that supports and provides a voice for people diagnosed with infertility, RESOLVE established the Hope Awards to recognize professionals, companies, volunteers and the media who have demonstrated leadership in the infertility field or have made a positive impact in the lives of people struggling with infertility.
Dr. Rebar said, “I will be accepting this award on behalf of the wonderful staff of our Society and our many members worldwide who have dedicated themselves to helping create families. They are the true award winners here and should be recognized and honored for their contributions. I have merely tried to facilitate the wishes of our members and Board through my years with the Society. I leave the Society knowing that these efforts will continue just as strongly in my absence as they may have done in my presence.”
Robert W. Rebar, MD, has served as the Executive Director of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) in Birmingham, Alabama since 2003 and is set to retire January 1, 2014. Dr. Rebar is certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology in obstetrics and gynecology and in reproductive endocrinology and infertility. During his tenure at ASRM, Dr. Rebar has led Society efforts that focused on collaboration with other societies worldwide, increased educational opportunities for ASRM members, and launched ASRM’s first-ever patient focused website.
“RESOLVE is delighted to recognize Dr. Rebar for his commitment to reproductive health and the infertility patient community,” said Barbara Collura, RESOLVE’s President/CEO. “Dr. Rebar has been a wonderful collaborator with RESOLVE and he shares our passion and commitment that all patients needing care deserve to have access to it. We are honored to thank him at the Night of Hope for his years of service.”
Linda C. Giudice, MD, PhD, President of ASRM said, “We are proud and pleased that RESOLVE has chosen to bestow this award on Dr. Rebar. Bob has been a tireless patient advocate his entire career, and this honor is well-deserved.”
