Affiliated Societies

Society for Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility (SREI)
 
Individuals who have successfully completed a fellowship approved by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG); have passed the written examination in this subspecialty; have passed the oral examination following two years of subspecialty practice. A reproductive endocrinologist is a "specialist in obstetrics and gynecology who is capable of managing complex problems relating to reproductive endocrinology and infertility, and whose current professional activity involves the practice of Reproductive Endocrinology in an institutional setting wherein essential diagnostic and therapeutic facilities are being appropriately used." (ABOG)
 
Society of Reproductive Surgeons (SRS) 
 
Individuals with special competence and/or expertise in reproductive surgery as evidenced by their special training, practice, and recognized contributions to the field. Mechanisms used to evaluate these characteristics are:
  1. Completion of an ABOG approved Reproductive Endocrine Fellowship with special competency and/or expertise in reproductive surgery.
  2. Completion of an SRS approved Gynecologic Surgery Fellowship.
  3. International applicant with special competence in reproductive surgery.
  4. Urologist with special competence in the diagnosis and surgical therapy of male infertility and/or impotence.
  5. Individuals not falling into the above categories, but recognized by the SRS Board for their special training, practice, and/or contributions to the area of reproductive surgery.
Applicants for membership must be active or associate members of ASRM and be engaged in research, development, or the practical application of reproductive surgery. Special competence and/or expertise will be demonstrated by such factors as surgical case list, publications, and educational contributions. Applicants must demonstrate high ethical and moral standards and be supported by two letters of recommendation from active members of SRS.
 
Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology (SART)   
A medical practice actively engaged in performing in vitro fertilization (IVF) and related assisted reproductive technologies. Prerequisites include adherence to the most recently published ASRM Minimum Standards for IVF and ART, maintenance of high ethical and moral standards, and annual submission of data to the SART Registry as mandated by the Fertility Clinic Success Rate and Certification Act (Wyden legislation). Data submitted to the Registry is subject to validation.

Society for Male Reproduction and Urology (SMRU) 

Individuals who have a special interest in male reproduction. The SMRU includes members who are urologists, clinical endocrinologists, gynecologists, laboratory scientists involved in clinical activities and/or research, nurses, and other health professionals. The SMRU is open to all Active and Associate Members of the ASRM.

Professional Groups

Association of Reproductive Managers (ARM)

The ARMSIG promotes and supports managers of reproductive medicine practices.

Mental Health Professional Group (MHPG)

Individuals dedicated to enhancing knowledge and understanding of psychological/emotional aspects of reproductive health. A $10.00 membership fee is required annually. 
 
Nurses Professional Group (NPG)
 
All nurses who join the ASRM automatically become members of the NPG.
Reproductive Biologists Professional Group (RBPG)
 
The RBPG promotes study and supports research in reproductive biology while providing a forum for scientists and clinicians to exchange ideas.
 
Reproductive Laboratory Technologists Professional Group (RLTPG)
 
The RLTPG allows its members to share information on reproductive laboratory techniques and the training of personnel.

Special Interest Groups

Androgen Excess Special Interest Group (AESIG)
 
The purpose of the Androgen Excess Special Interest Group is to foster the growth of knowledge in the area of androgen excess among ASRM membership and provide a forum for the exchange of ideas and information in androgen excess disorders. 
 
Chinese Special Interest Group (ChSIG)
 
The purpose of the Chinese Special Interest Group (ChSIG) of ASRM is to disseminate basic, applied scientific and theoretical medical and professional knowledge derived from scholarly research in the field of Reproductive Medicine for the benefit of humanity; to provide opportunities for further training, research, and clinical studies in the field of Reproductive Medicine within and outside of China; and to promote the exchange of information among physicians and scientists of Chinese origin within and outside of China and the general members of the ASRM.
 
Contraception Special Interest Group (CSIG)
 
The CSIG promotes and supports basic and applied research in contraception.
 
Endometriosis Special Interest Group (EndoSIG)
 
The mission of the Endometriosis Special Interest Group (EndoSIG) is to further the goals of the ASRM by fostering increased interest in the biology, pathophysiology and clinical management of endometriosis.
 
Environment and Reproduction Special Interest Group (ERSIG)
 
The ERSIG seeks to enhance understanding of the effect of environmental factors on reproductive health through excellence in education, research and clinical practice. There is a $10.00 annual membership fee.
 
Fertility Preservation Special Interest Group (FPSIG)
 
The Fertility Preservation Special Interest Group promotes knowledge among health care workers and the public on infertility induced by cancer therapy and other medical treatments through national and international collaboration among Reproductive Specialists, Oncologists, and Allied Health Workers to promote research, education and to develop new strategies of fertility preservation. 
 
Fibroid Special Interest Group (FSIG)
 
The principal purposes of the ASRM FSIG shall be to stimulate, support, and promote education, research, and knowledge in the field of fibroid development, growth, pathophysiology, clinical manifestations, and treatment. 
Genetic Counseling Special Interest Group (GCSIG)
 
The purpose of the GCSIG is to establish an organized presence of genetic counselors and related professionals, provide genetic counseling resources, serve as a liaison to the National Society of Genetic Counselors (NSGC), and generate a presentation track on genetic counseling topics at the ASRM Annual Meeting.
 
Imaging in Reproductive Medicine Special Interest Group (IRMSIG)
 
The IRMSIG promotes the advancement of imaging techniques for diagnosis, as well as for therapeutic purposes, and fosters research to achieve progress in their clinical applications.
 
Menopause Special Interest Group (MSIG)
 
The MSIG promotes the study of menopause and postmenopausal health. The MSIG also advocates research and education and provides a forum for the exchange of ideas.
Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology Special Interest Group (PAGSIG)
 
The PAGSIG promotes the study and supports research in pediatric and adolescent gynecology.
 
Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis Special Interest Group (PGDSIG)
 
The ASRM PGD SIG has been established to coordinate research, education, and training in preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) in collaboration with the Preimplantation Genetics Diagnosis International Society. Because of a multidisciplinary nature of PGD, the PGD SIG will coordinate efforts with obstetricians, fertility specialists, embryologists and human geneticists, to insure the implementation of the appropriate PGD technology for the improvement of ART. 
 
Reproductive Immunology Special Interest Group (RISIG)
 
An individual who has completed an M.D., Ph.D., or equivalent nonmedical, research-based graduate degree along with ongoing interest in reproductive immunology. There is a $10.00 annual membership fee.
Sexuality Special Interest Group (SSIG)
 
The SSIG's mission is to advance sexual health research and clinical training within ASRM's multidisciplinary membership.
Women's Council
 
All female members of the ASRM automatically become members of the Women's Council.
