Award Opportunity: Nominate a Colleague or Yourself for the Eugene Garfield Economic Impact of Medical and Health Research Award
Research!America is seeking nominations for the seventh annual Eugene Garfield Economic Impact of Medical and Health Research Award. Established in 2002, the award annually recognizes outstanding research demonstrating how medical and health research impacts the economy.
Generously supported by the Eugene Garfield Foundation, the award carries an honorarium of $5,000 and will be presented on October 14, 2008, in conjunction with the Research!America Board of Directors meeting in Washington, DC.
The Award Committee will consider nominations received by the close of business May 30, 2008.
Nominations should include a copy of the publication or thesis and a 200-word statement summarizing the reasons the work should be recognized- particularly describing how the work illustrates the economic benefits of medical and health research.
To be considered, the work must have been published or accepted for publication between January 1, 2003 and December 31, 2007.
The Garfield Award Committee urges nomination of individuals early in their career to encourage growth of the field, and welcomes self-nominations.
