ASRM2014, the 70th Annual Meeting of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, is on path to be one of the largest and most successful meetings ever.  The abstract submission deadline passed last week, and it can now be revealed that investigators around the world submitted nearly 2000 abstracts, the largest number ever for an ASRM meeting.

Pre-Menopausal Removal of Ovaries Accelerates Bone Loss and Carotid Artery Thickening in Post-Menopausal Women

Women  who are more than 10 years post-menopause and who have had their ovaries removed lose bone mineral density at twice the rate of those who have kept their ovaries and they show greater progression in the thickening of the carotid artery. Oophorectomy appears to put women at higher risk for developing both osteoporosis and cardiovascular disease (CVD).
